High Shoals Falls – North Ga. Hiking
Downhill all the way, and remember that means up hill all the way back. At just under 3 miles combined in and out, but its worth the hike. Once at the bottom, you will be able to experience several awesome views from several viewing decks, one of which puts you so close to the falls that you can feel the mist, and get a real feel of a all natural outdoor air conditioner. There is one more spectacular hike nearby that offers one of the most dramatic views of any place in the state of Georgia.
There are two excellent lodging opportunities very close to this trail. One is a small campground that also offers very budget friendly small adorable one bedroom cabins with back decks overlooking a small mountain stream. There are also a few very old rustic cabins that are probably about the least expensive cabins I’ve found anywhere in the mountains. these cabins give the feel of true old age cabin living.
As far as dining goes, there is only one choice, but it is a small family owned rustic restaurant offering some of the best home cooked style meals I have ever tasted, and the best fresh rainbow trout you will find anywhere in the mountains, all at a budget friendly price.
